Alveston Traversing Wall

Located in Alveston Youth Centre and available for hire.

Schools, Youth Groups, families and individuals can hire 2nd Alveston Scout Group's Indoor Traversing Wall. It's a great idea for kids' parties or something to do in the school holidays.

Alveston Youth Centre

Traversing is:

  • great fun and good exercise
  • suitable for all ages and abilities
  • the art of climbing sideways (not up!)
  • a safe but challenging way of learning to climb

The maximum recommended group size is 12. The wall is fitted with safety mats that provide a safe landing surface. As the climber's feet are never more than 60 cm from the ground you do not need instructors' qualifications or trained supervision.

To hire the Traversing Wall, you need to book the Youth Centre Hall at normal rates and add a supplement of £10 (correct at December 2016 and subject to change).

Youth Centre refurbishment

As part of our on going intention to maintain and improve the Youth Centre we have replaced the front doors with a single wider door for wheelchair access. The path from the car park has been replaced with a ramp to aid wheelchair users and those less able.

We will be replacing the porch soon. All of this has been made possible by funding from the parish Council, National Lottery,South Glos Council and others.
