Sam Hutchinson – Pilates and Zumba classes and Back-Care Pilates courses


I offer Zumba and Pilates classes as well as aerobics for older adults in Thornbury and Alveston. There’s no need to book in advance and your first class is free! All sessions have a fun, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, which means we enjoy ourselves at the same time as getting a good workout.

I also run 12-week Back-Care Pilates courses 3 times a year (January, April and September). Each course includes a Back-Care Pilates guide that contains all the exercises from the course and advice on exercises you can do at home to help improve your back.

Additionally, I provide Pilates-based personal training and am passionate about using Pilates to treat painful conditions. These tailored programmes can make a significant difference not only to people’s bodies, but to their happiness and overall quality of life.

I’ve taught in the local area for over 13 years and welcome anyone to my classes, regardless of experience or level of fitness!

Frontline Martial Arts


Frontline Martial Arts provide classes for children (from 4 years of age) and adults (any age!), practicing mainly WTF style Taekwondo but we also incorporate influences from many other styles of martial arts.
We are a community based, family friendly club, run on a not-for-profit basis. Our emphasis is on learning effective martial arts and self-defence in a fun and supportive environment.

Severnside Ramblers


We arrange walks each weekend as well as midweek evenings in the summer. The area and length of the walk varies greatly and members also arrange occasional weekends away.
We have regular social events such as skittles evenings, quiz nights, barbecues and the like, and there is always a Christmas dinner.
However, we are more than just a walking club. The Ramblers is a registered charity and one of its aims is to campaign to keep the footpath network open.

Thornbury Rotary Swimarathon


Our annual Swimarathon has been Thornbury Rotary Club's major fund-raising event for over 20 years.

Funds are raised by sponsored teams of 6 or more people swimming lengths in relay at Thornbury Leisure Centre. We are very grateful to the individual swimmers and teams who unfailingly support this event and also to our local sponsors and advertisers for their donations. The money they give more than covers the cost of running the Swimarathon, ensuring that every penny raised by our swimmers, plus the balance from these donations, is used for the benefit of "good causes".
